THANKS TO DAD
Let me tell you about a man
A simple life and a simple plan
Who never knew he’d go so far
Bought a house with a couple grand
Fixed it up with his own hands
I never knew a man could work so hard

He raised a healthy family, my brother and my mom and me
Always wanted more than what we had
But because of things that he did, we had all we needed thanks to dad

A wood stove a warm home, a soft bed to sleep on
And so many things he never had
A TV, a dirt bike, a hot meal every night
Yeah, living wasn’t all that bad
Back then we didn’t know it but growing up was easy thanks to dad

He taught us how to bait a hook, how to clean the fish we’d cook
And so many things we’d have never known
When he taught us how to swim, he took us out and threw us in
And made us learn how on our own

Taught us how to ride a bike, tried to teach us wrong from right
Whenever we’d do something bad
I don’t claim to be a genius, but I know all I know thanks to dad

With a wood stove a warm home, a soft bed to sleep on
And so many things he never had
A TV, a dirt bike, a hot meal every night
Living wasn’t all that bad
Back then we didn’t know it but growing up was easy thanks to dad
