I See A Bright Light Shining

I see a bright light shining
Hear the train wheels whining
Starts my heart to pining
Oh how sad, oh how sad
That train is drawing near now
My eyes are filled with tears now
It’s bringing home my dear one but she’s dead, yes she’s dead

We stood here when we parted
We both were broken hearted
Then the bright light started
Coming in round the bend
To her heart she held me
I heard her softly tell me
I’ll be back God willing
When the lilacs bloom again

I watched the bright leaving
Left alone and grieving
Begging please don’t leave me
All in vain, all in vain
The news then reached her mother,
Father, sister, and brother
She died while helping others
In the wreck of the train

Somewhere a bright light’s beaming
That glory train is steaming
