That Place on the Road
I’d been traveling the road a long time ago
I met this man one day while I was on my own
He said you like them blues you like to sing those songs
He said I like what you do but it’s going to take you too long

He said I’ll help you out and I’ll take you as far as you can go
If you promise me now and swear it on your soul
When time is right I’ll take you back to the road

Almost straight away we began to play
Traveling all over the world to places far away
People came from all around just to watch us play
I made many a friend thought it would never end

He said I’ll help you out and take you as far as you can go
So I promised him then and I swore it on my soul
He said when the time is right he’ll take me back to the road

As the years went by I began to tire I was playing one day
In this crowded place I could see this man standing in the front row
When I went back stage my heart began to go

He said I’ve helped you out and I’ve taken you as far as you can go
And you promised me then and you swore it on your soul
Now it’s time for me to take you back to the road
Back to that place on the road back to the place on the road
Back to the place on the road
