A soulful voice combined with kickin’ guitar licks and potent production are the backbone of Jody Whitesides sound in Hero Unexpected. Whitesides has combined the smarts of John Mayer with the boldness of Lenny Kravitz and mixed it with the cleverness of Maroon 5. He’s created a hook-laden Alternative Rock release that appeals to indie, folk, and pop fans alike. Co-produced by Canadian George Leger III and mastered by GRAMMY® winning Gavin Lurssen.
Jody’s previous release Practical Insanity led to successful touring in the U.S. as well as winning Music Video of the Year with his song Falling In.

Nominated for five Just Plain Folks awards in 2006, Jody has shared the stage with Martha Davis & The Motels, Dave Davies (The Kinks) and had several of his songs placed in film soundtracks. When the A&R representative for Taylor Guitars caught Whitesides showcasing at the annual NAMM Show, his only comment before offering him a deal was “You should be playing a Taylor.” Fellow endorser Sennheiser microphones featured Whitesides in their online Sennheiser TrueSound Lounge with major label bands like Sugarcult. Joe's Guitars, Seymore Duncan pickups, Dean Markley Strings, Groove Tubes and Line 6 have all gathered around to support this humble and unstoppable artist in achieving his goal of being the most recognizable non-signed artist on the planet.
