Kutsal’s album “NAKED” has been released on March 1st with a CD Release Party held at Tangier.
She was born in Turkey and studied Psychology in Bosphorus University,Istanbul. She had formed many cover rock bands and sang lead in shows in clubs and concerts all over Turkey. The most well known ones of these were: Ain't Blonde and Kutsal Hazine Avcilari. While touring with her band, she started being recognized by biggest names in the industry and she had the chance to work with artists like: Sezen Aksu, Nazan Oncel, Sebnem Ferah, Teoman, Feridun Duzagac, Haluk Levent...on their albums and during their concerts.
Then she thought it was time to fly with her own wings and started writing songs for her own album. Her debut album: “Susuzlugun Gecti Mi" was released in September, 2001 with TMC Records. The album was produced by Serdar Oztop and Alper Cakir.
Two songs from this album: "Gozlerim Agliyor" and "Birak Kirilsinlar" hit the charts and the videos were played on the Music TV’s in Turkey. And her third single: Ruya was loved by crowds and became her biggest hit.
Also, she acted in "Gokten Dusen Hazine," an Austrian-Turkish movie as a rock-star and two of her songs: Birak Kirilsinlar" and "Bu Kadinlar Askin Degil" were selected to be on the soundtrack.
Right after moving to Los Angeles in late 2003, she started working on her second album. This time it was a huge challenge, since she decided to record the album in both Turkish and English. After so much hard work, her second album: NAKED which was produced by Jimmy Waldo and Alper Cakir is
released in early 2008. She has worked with many great musicians and Grammy Winning sound engineers on this album.
The album consists of 11 songs, mostly written by Kutsal and also co-written with two other song writers: Aubrey Collins – in “Wake Me Up" and Alper Cakir - in "Personally".
After being on stage for almost 15 years and writing so many songs, she feels that this has been an unbelievable experience for her to be able to record her 2nd album here in LA with so many great musicians. And she feels blessed each day to have this opportunity. She thinks this album represents the hard times she's gone through for the last couple of years and how she questioned life, love and herself and how she felt "naked" when doing that. "It was the hardest time of my life", she says, "I named it "Naked" because this is how I felt for a long time… I felt so vulnerable and lonely. But in the end I gained a whole new outlook on life, love and myself and I have this album which I am very proud of! I guess nothing comes easy."
Kutsal also released her second album in Turkey and she will be playing gigs both in US and in Turkiye for her two albums.
