LARA EWEN RELEASES NEW ALBUM, THE WISHING STONE SONGS, FALL 2013
Brooklyn-based Americana singer/songwriter Lara Ewen will release her third album, The Wishing Stone Songs, on September 20, 2013, with a CD release event scheduled for September 21 at Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

The 11-song album introduces listeners to an imaginary dive bar, The Wishing Stone, and invites them to hear Lara’s “fables for grown-ups” – semi-autobiographical songs about the characters inside. Throughout the album, Lara charts a dark yet hopeful musical course blending country, Americana, folk and singer/songwriter influences, while consistently highlighting the lyrical acuity and the insightful readings of the human heart that brought fans to her previous two releases. The first 1000 copies of the album will come in a lavish limited-edition hardcover storybook featuring 11 hand-drawn illustrations by Jennifer Noonan and a foil-stamped cover.

The Wishing Stone Songs was produced at GaluminumFoil Studios by Chris Cubeta (Wakey!Wakey!, Harper Blynn), and features performances from musicians including Catherine Popper on upright bass (Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Ryan Adams); Tarrah Reynolds and Eleanor Whitmore on violin (Alicia Keys, Harry Connick Jr., and Regina Spektor, Kelly Willis, respectively); and Gerald Menke on pedal steel (Justin Townes Earle, Ari Hest).
Ewen’s previous two releases, Clear (EP, 2002) and Ghosts and Gasoline (2007) are currently available through all major online sources. The first single from The Wishing Stone Songs, titled Death Better Take Me Dancing, is available on iTunes now and will also be available for immediate download as part of the album’s digital pre-release sales, which begin September 4.

Tickets for the CD release show are $10, and will include special pricing on the new album. Directly following the show, Lara plans several New York City-area shows. She plans to tour select U.S. markets in 2014.
