The Lost Boys of Dozier

When I was a young girl my family would drive to The Dozier School for Boys in Marianna, Florida, to see the Christmas lights strung along the 1400 acres of the school grounds. It was a place for troubled young boys, run by the state.
This last Christmas season, word finally came out about so many of those boys being tortured and murdered, then buried without paperwork in an area behind the torture chamber. The chamber was called "the White House," and the burial ground was "Boot Hill."
I felt, somehow, that we were complicit. We should've known.
Now, after so many years, these bodies are being exhumed after a long fight with authorities. I hope they will be returned to their families....their homes
