Untieable Knot
Verse 1
The pills and the whiskey live safely by his side.
While God paints a picture from a pallet of a “Starry Night”,
He reads his Bible while he listens to “So Lonesome I Could Cry”
Another day gone by, another day gone by.

Verse 2
His pain hangs over his shoulders like a well-worn coat.
The one he’s worn since the first day that he spoke.
He washes it daily with a mix of the liquor and beer.
It’s a comforting fear; it’s a comforting fear.

Chorus:
Some men live, like their going to die
Some men live like their already dead
And they don’t know why.
They don’t know why, it has to feel this way.
So they cling to the pain that soothes them,
Day by day.

Bridge:
How do you untie the untie able knot?
While the ends unravel from the self-inflicted rot.
Tangled up with the loss of love and the fear of shame.
A life so lived throws the rope in the smoldering flame.

He reads his Bible while he listens to “So Lonesome I Could Cry”
Another day gone by, another day gone by...
