The Red Tent
The Red Tent By Maryen Cairns

Come inside, share our shelter
Red walls welcome women’s return
Wrapped around women’s wisdom
The red tent welcomes us, welcomes us home

When I was a young girl darling, making my way in this world
Didn’t know much about my moontime, feeling a sad and lonely girl
Now it has taken some time but there’s a group of women I’ve found
Wish I’d known about the red tent darling,
Gives me love and peace of mind

Come inside, share our shelter
Red walls welcome women’s return
Wrapped around women’s wisdom
The red tent welcomes us, welcomes us home

Found a secret amongst women been quiet for a long long time
Come sisters come and gather in the dark of our moontime
Wanna take some time out darling, lie around and talk with friends
Wish I’d known about the red tent darling, gives me hope for womankind

Come inside, share our shelter
Red walls welcome women’s return
Wrapped around women’s wisdom
The red tent welcomes us, welcomes us home

You don’t wanna come the red tent darling, no no it’s not for men
When I go down to the red tent darling I hang out with my girlfriends
No, no, you wouldn’t like it, boring boring for men
But oh, wish I’d known about the red tent darling
Time to chill, renew the vine

Come inside, share our shelter
Red walls welcome women’s return
Wrapped around women’s wisdom
The red tent welcomes us, welcomes us home
