I Want My Country Back
I Want My Country Back

I had to do it my way, Take it to the highway,

Put it down in L.A., You don't know my name,

Take a look around downtown Hollywood,

I got about half a dream from “Eden”.

I traveled with an old friend, We had ideals then,

Left an old mill town, To turn the world around.

Tear the wall of fear down 'cause we knew we could.

We believed in love back then, 'cause we were free then.

The world got old, our hearts gone cold,

we do what we're told, and it feels so damn profound.

We became the enemy, Went to war with liberty,

Shackled the brave and free, As we tore our freedoms down.

Funny how life has changed, everything is rearranged,

There’s no time for blame, we did it to ourselves.

Do we need to be this world’s hero?

Why do we always fight? When will we get it right?

Don’t let this promised land slip through your children’s hands

We need a change in plan, we need to change it now

Who’s strong enough to shine the beacon?

What will the nation say, when we are shown the way?

The ideas are old, our hearts grew cold,

Got to break the mold, to turn the world around.

I want the innocent free, I want my liberty,

Get off this beaten track--I want my country back.

It's hard to identify, who might be the bad guy,

Grey shades on both sides--It's just not black or white.

Thick in a plot bound for Hollywood,

It's only in the ending when, you're going to see them.

The ideas are old, our hearts grew cold,

Got to break the mold, To turn the world around.

I want the innocent free, I want my liberty,

Get off this beaten track ---I want my country back.

Thick in a plot bound for Hollywood, I got about half a dream from "Eden".
