3. HYMN
Hymn

Let us sing a hymn, a song of praise or joy
It could be of religion or a frightened little boy
Alone but not forgotten I will take his hand in mine
And sing a song of praise or joy to help us through this night

It is written religion is a set of beliefs
Concerning the cause, nature and purpose of the universe
Especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency
Involving devotional and ritual observances
And containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs
And what has become of this moral code as we conduct these human affairs?

Let us sing a hymn, a song of praise or joy
It could be of religion or a frightened little boy
Alone but not forgotten I will take your hand in mine
And sing a song of praise or joy to help us through the night

And how do we find the spirit, the life-giving force?
And how do we paint our masterpiece when we’re so far from shore?
How can we turn toward loving when it is easier to hate?
How will we lift our voices when the walls begin the shake?

Spirit is defined as the principle of conscious life
The vital principle in humans animating the body
Mediating between body and soul, body and soul, body and soul
The flesh so very fragile and the heart a river deep
Let us pray for our deliverance our souls to keep

And let us sing a hymn, a song of praise or joy
It could be of religion or a frightened little boy
Alone but not forgotten I will take your hand in mine
And sing a song of praise or joy to help us through this night
Help us through the night, help us through the night
Help us through the night
