Trapped in a Bottle
Trapped in a bottle, it's either drink or drown
Either sink or swim, at the bottom I'll be found
Dog paddle, treading water, looking out thru the glass
At the world I use to know, sinking mighty fast

Walls are getting higher, the bottom's getting near
Barmaid keeps asking me hon would you like another beer
Maybe I would but I'm not thinking to clear
It's awful tempting when you whisper in my ear

Stuck in a bottle no deposit no return
You never get that nickel back
You think someday I'd learn
When you read the warning backwards
It don't make no sense at all
Seems like forever I'm surrounded by one wall
The Government tried to warn us
Women and drunks beware
Now I'm kissing the bar maid
And she's pouring me another beer

Walls are getting higher, the bottom's getting near
Bar maid keeps telling me she don't live far from here
You can come on over and I'll pour you another beer

Trapped at the bar maids lordiy what's become of me
I got a bottle in my hand, and a baby on my knee
My bar maid's got a new job, my thinkins a bit more clear
My drinking days are over we've been married for two years
Now I'm writing nursery rhythms and I'm singing overtime
I would not change one minuet for that life I left behind
