Highway One

Highway One

We set our father in the ground
And I said farewell to my hometown
And headed north beneath the setting sun
In search of grace on Highway One

My grandfather crossed the sea
To shed his past to pray in peace
I bet he knew his quest was done
In his new Ford on Highway One

And I come back here
Almost every year
To drive this sacred road
It gives me hope
I’m forever young
On this old road called Highway One

It’s a moonlit summer night
The Isles of Shoals is on my right
Another journey has begun
On my true friend old Highway One
