He Rides
I heard of a man who rode like the wind
lightning, speed in his hand
He left a wife and child on their own
and hoped, that they’d understand
Accused of something he never done
now he’s on the run
Left all alone, to clear his name
and live or die by the gun

And he rides----------yes he rides
and he rides toward the sun
And he rides----------yes he rides
and he'll live or die the gun

Town after town, through the snow and the rain
he knew what he had to do
challenged by day and shadowed by night
he searched to un-cover the truth
He rode into Reno, one warm after-noon
nothing but dust in the air
the end of his journey had finally arrived
when he saw those boots standing there

And he rides----------yes he rides
rides toward the sun
And he rides----------yes he rides
and he lives or dies by the gun

One round straight and true, from the weapon he drew
powder and smoke in the breeze
his enemy fired much faster than he
now he’s lying, face up in the street
he met his demise with a look of surprise
grew cold as he starred at the sun
dreaming of home he rode towards the sky
and he lived and died by the gun

And he rides----------yes he rides
rides toward the sun
And he rides-----------yes he rides
and he lived and he died by the gun
