SUPERMERCADO RELEASES CHUPACABRA ON DARK STAR RECORDS

Supermercardo’s follow-up release to “Scary Baby” - “Chupacabra” is now available for digital download worldwide and beyond thru iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, Hot Topic, Loudtrax, Myspace Music and more! Chupacabra features the hit song “Cult of Personality” originally recorded by Living Colour. Supermercado is a group of Chicago’s finest musicians featuring Matt Mercado (vocals and guitar), Greg Potter (drums), Phil Mann (bass), Quinn Moore (guitar), Michael Ray (guitar) and Cliff Hunt (vocals).

Matt Mercado has been around the Chicago music scene since the late 80’s with local band Daisy Chain who signed their first record deal to Mercury Records, and had their first record produced by Max Norman (known for his work with Megadeath, Ozzy Osbourne, Loudness, Savatage). Daisy Chain went on to become Mind Bomb touring the US and Europe with rocks legends such as Rob Halford and Kiss. They also gained critical acclaim featured on major motion picture soundtracks including Cliff Hanger starring Sylvester Stallone and Kalifornia starring Brad Pitt. Supermercado is featured on FlatOut “Ultimate Carnage” X-Box 360.

Chupacabra is being considered for three Grammy Awards in 2010: Album of the Year, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, and Best Producer Matt Mercado. Look for Chupacabra on CD to be released September 2009 worldwide and beyond!
