The High 48s Release "Holidays with The High 48s"
For Immediate Release
November 30, 2015

The High 48s celebrate the release of their new holiday album, Holidays with The High 48s, with a show at the Aster Cafe in Minneapolis on December 5.

On Holidays with The High 48s, the band ventured beyond the traditional bluegrass songbook to find songs that connected with their childhood memories of the holiday season.

“This was a very personal project for us,” says The High 48s banjo player Anthony Ihrig. “We got to reconnect with some our favorite holiday music growing-up and then reimagine it with an all-acoustic, bluegrass instrumentation.”

In addition to traditional Christmas carols like “Silent Night” and bluegrass holiday classics like “The Friendly Beasts” and Bill Monroe’s “Christmas Time’s A Coming,” the band covers “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” from Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and Vince Guaraldi’s “Skating” from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

For the CD release show, The High 48s will return to the Aster Cafe, where they played a series of sell-out bluegrass brunch shows last winter.
