That Room
That Room
twin beds and an old record player
pink and blue carousels on the wall
you and me, we were always together
In our room at the end of the hall
telling stories under the covers
dancing for an invisible crowd
turtle races hiding places
we got the Beatles turned up loud
turned up loud
we made our own world in that room
two little girls in their mom's high heels and perfume
aspecial time an ordinary place
you showed me how to laugh I taught you how to keep a straight face
I didn't want to grow up and leave that room
daddy kept the home fires burning
mom on the road with a traveling show
summer came he would take us to join her
you and me sitting in the front row
long trips in the old station wagon
childhood snapshots held in my heard
Hamster cages concert stages
playing in our room was still the best part
the best part
we made our own world in that room
two little girls in their mom's high heels and perfume
a special time an ordinary place
you showed me how to laugh
I taught you how to keep a straight face
I didn't want to grow up and leave that room
I look back and realize that a room is just a place
memories behind these eyes can never be erased
sisters can grow apart and move so far away
here you are right next to me as we watch our own girls play
we made our own world in that room
two little girls in their mom's high heels and perfume
A special time an ordinary place
you showed me how to laugh
I taught you how to keep a straight face ..
