Biography

NEW RELEASE
Tommy Talton/“Somewhere South of Eden”

Tommy Talton is a familiar name to many music aficionados, especially fans of Southern rock. Talton figured heavily into that part of music history co-founding the band “Cowboy” who was signed by Capricorn Records. Seems they were discovered by none other than old friend Duane Allman, who, as legend has it, banged on their door at 7 a.m. one morning and asked to hear some new songs.

It's clear that Tommy Talton is still making music for the sheer joy of it. He manages to perform with both the energy of a music-obsessed kid and the restraint of a seasoned veteran-because, at heart, he is both!

On this latest collection, Tommy has gathered together some great musicians, both old and new friends, to help bring to life these songs that have in his words, been “pulled from the sky as they were floating by.”
Lots of musical territory is covered in these 11 cuts, from Latin- flavored instrumental “Poblano,” to Bluegrass-funky “Don't Go Away Sore,” through the novelette title track “Somewhere South of Eden.”
Tommy is covering the guitar parts and vocals while the foundation of all tracks is drummer Bryan Owings [Tony Joe White, Buddy Miller, Emmy Lou Harris] and bassist Chris Donohue [Emmy Lou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Alison Krauss]. Foundation tracks were recorded by David Pinkston, in Hendersonville, Tn.
Keyboardists Chuck Leavell [Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Allman Bros.], Spooner Oldham [Muscle Shoals “Swamper” fame], Ike Stubblefield [Motown organist extraordinaire], Steve Conn [singer-songwriter, Sonny Landreth, Bonnie Raitt], John Ginty [soloist and organist with Dixie Chicks], Kenny Head [John Barry, Georgia Satellites, Tommy Talton Band] have contributed on various tracks, along with Jeff Mosier on banjo, [Blueground Undergrass, Col. Bruce Hampton]. Old friends Randall Bramblett/ Tom Ryan [Shawn Mullins] add saxophones on the first track “I Can't Believe It.” Vocalist, Deborah Reece adds soulful harmonies to three of the tracks here and Markham White [engineer/mixer for the album] adds guitar parts on two of the tracks.

After two critically acclaimed releases in the last few years, “Let’s Get Outta Here” Oct. 2012,and, “Until After Then,” Oct. 2014, with HittinTheNote Records, the new release “Somewhere South of Eden” is certainly worth the three year wait!
