Toluca Lake

One summer day on Toluca Lake
I left my love for another mate
His craft was trim, such a sight to see
Its handsome captain beckoned me
He whispered I was the picture of grace
Just like his yacht I put a smile upon his face
He filled me with chocolates and cherry coke
And boasted how we'd never be broke
Please forgive me, please forgive me
I forgot what my heart already knew
Glitz and glitter can be blinding
Filled my mind and I lost sight of you
We took a lap once around the lake
We sailed so smooth, never left a wake
He talked of islands across the sea
And the treasures that would all belong to me
Just for a moment I closed my eyes
Imagined me in his paradise
But all at once, I recalled forever more
The one I longed for was waiting on the shore
Please forgive me, please forgive me
I forgot what my heart already knew
Glitz and glitter can be blinding
Filled my mind and I lost sight of you
So let's set sail together you and I
As seagulls greet the dawn, we'll watch the morning rise
I'll never wander nor cause your heart to bleed
You're all the boy I will ever need
Please forgive me, please forgive me
I forgot what my heart already knew
Glitz and glitter can be blinding
Filled my mind and I lost sight of you
