Wildflower

We danced in the pouring rain
Sweet summer rain warm on our skin
Your old six-string played, each moment made
Our world a dream that we were living in

I’ve got a love so strong, I know my heart is bound
I am an oak tree with its roots deep in the ground
But you are a wildflower that travels on the wind
You’ll soon be gone again

When the leaves turned, and the colors swirled
We were burning fierce and true
In the autumn gold, our kisses told
Of the passion that fired through me and you

I’ve got a love so strong, I know my heart is bound
I am an oak tree with its roots deep in the ground
But you are a wildflower that travels on the wind
You’ll soon be gone again

All things must pass
The sand slips through the hourglass

In the winter storm, when the lines went down
I dreamt that you’d be leaving with the thaw
You held me tight, and you promised the night
Our love would be in bloom when springtime called

I’ve got a love so strong, I know my heart is bound
I am an oak tree with its roots deep in the ground
But you are a wildflower that travels on the wind
You’ll soon be gone again

But you are a wildflower that travels on the wind
You’ll soon be gone again
