Biography
Ray Lani – Country Hardball
I have been on the “International Country Music Top 200 Artist Charts” frequently since 2006, and I have had 3 “Top 40” songs from the same charts over the last 3 years, with “Mama’s Rocking Chair”, which is included in this album, reaching # 4 for the week ending January 21, 2013. I have also included my other 2 Top 40 songs, “Everything I Ever Wanted Was You, and “Just A Hug”, plus 11 new songs.
I am the writer of all of the songs on this album, except for the duet with the delightfully talented Ann Pascoe, from New Zealand, “Let’s Hate Ourselves In The Morning”, a great song written by Jon Philibert, from the UK.
The title song “Country Hardball” comes from the first love that I can remember, and that is baseball.
As with many of the songs on my albums of the past few years, 12 of these songs were also recorded by me playing all the instruments, except the drums, which are played so tastefully, by my son Raymond M. Lani.
So this is not your typical perfect “studio” album. It has a kind of raw, live quality to it.
