“Music In The Air” is the second album by Neville’s Quarter and includes many of the original songs fans have come to love from their live shows. This duo includes Brian Moyer on acoustic guitar and banjo and Lex Headley on fiddle, mandolin, and keys. Together they have played pretty much every live music venue in the Triangle region of North Carolina from Shakori Hills Music Festival to family friendly events at Old Mill Farm. Their songwriting is fun and energetic and includes a mix of clever and thoughtful tunes. Songs like “Howling at the Moon” express the importance of community in the tradition of music. While tunes like “Rose Quartz & Serenity” allow room to meditate and take in your surroundings while enjoying the soothing sound of Lex’s voice. Brian shows his more playful side on songs like “What I Feel Like Doing” where he sings about following his instincts and his own desires. On this album, they are joined on most tracks by multi-instrumentalist/producer/engineer Bryan O'Kelley Cox. The project features a song of his about the hypocrisy of persecution called “Conditional Love.”
Neville's Quarter is a toss up between either attending a goosebumps inducing inspirational folk concert or finally finding that chill campfire circle of friends that you've been searching for all your life. Whichever way the the show lands for you, you will leave feeling a richer state of mind. Neville's Quarter's collection of songs is playful enough for kids to dance to but also delivers more weighty topics for adults to ponder over, well after all the microphones are unplugged. Together, they are a highly skilled musical force; they incorporate at least half a dozen instruments in each show and have hundreds of well crafted songs to share. Their main objective as musicians is to break open the shells that trap people inside, and they do so through the lyrics and melodies they share with each performance.
Both Brian Moyer and Lex Headley have family roots in New Jersey but they've bounced around living in the collection of Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina. Their music was born out of the bountiful music culture of North Carolina; between church choir practices, Songwriter Co-op meetings, bluegrass jams, and Saturday morning folk song circles, they developed their own musical style that is now known as Neville's Quarter. Lex studied voice, violin, and piano as a classical music student at Syracuse University Setnor School of Music. The introduction to folk music and bluegrass in North Carolina was a floodgate for her; she quickly was pulled into the tide of songwriting and music performance there. Brian Moyer, a natural at songwriting and instigating singalongs, was the spark that got Neville's Quarter going. Becoming a professional musician had been a decades long dream of Brian's, and once Lex heard his songwriting, she too wanted to make that happen. They teamed up together in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, late in 2016, and have been making music together wherever they go since.
