Not Your Everyday Love Song
I wrote this song for my first love, Polly Huff, in 1979, in Tucson, AZ, and performed it at the Valentines' Banquet at 22nd St Baptist Church with a friend of mine at the time, Ken Nichols. We were dressed like England Dan & John Ford Coley (you know the look!); I remember it like it was yesterday (probably because I have pics of us on the stage). My Dad was a Baptist Deacon, and he had not heard the song prior to our performance, so he was MORTIFIED when I used the word, "Hell" in the chorus. He quickly forgave me, though, when the congregation overwhelmingly approved of the song, as did the girl, btw, so... another happy ending!...
