New CD: Stories that we wrote
Larry Allen Brown has the voice of an old soul, which is what makes his music so enjoyable. Listening to his music makes it seem as if you yourself are gaining a bit more wisdom with every second.

Stories That We Wrote

Decent Hill is pleased to present native Chicagoan Larry Allen Brown and his hit CD Stories That We Wrote. This is Larry’s third Decent Hill project, following his explosive book Political Logic and his DVD release Playing the Guitar in Open D.

The music of singer / songwriter and guitarist Larry Allen Brown is a rich blend of original, contemporary, and traditional sounds, simmered in the deep warm hues of cedar and rosewood and the American landscape.

Backed by an All-Star lineup and produced by Will Ackerman of the legendary Windham Hill Records, Stories that we Wrote takes the listener to a place that is peaceful and filled with sensual images. From the autobiographical title song, to the instrumental version of Shenandoah, to the traces of Celtic roots in the ode to his daughter, Jaime Marie, this music will make you smile, and remember.

Place another log on the fire, and pet your dog. It’s the music of dappled sunlight and autumn leaves, rolling hills, and distant church steeples. It will take you home again.

***

"Larry Allen Brown is the real deal. This man sings songs of startling intelligence in a voice you know is telling the truth. These are songs with some serious miles on the tires, born of a life deeply and passionately lived."

Will Ackerman, Producer

Review of Music for the High Country by A&R Select: Hollywood CA

Reviewed by A&R dept A&R Select

Larry Allen Brown's "First Impression" is a good one, a soft jazz guitar ballad of intense beauty. Other sweet highlights on his accomplished "Music for the High Country" cd are the cinematic "The Ride", which conjures up images of just that; a ride through the country side, windows down, fall leaves all around us; and "Morningside Drive", a tight six sting track that defines the artist's musical knowledge and chord structure. Overall, this 12 song cd from Mr. Brown's luscious arsenal of new age/jazz is a superior and professionally realized collection of instrumental gems.
