Biography
Megan McKamey currently resides in Kingsport, TN. She began playing banjo at the age of 9 when her Papa Conner told her she could have his old banjo if she learned how to play it. And ever since then, Megan has done just that!
Now at only the age of 21, Megan has already had many successes in her musical career. She performed in the 2011-2012 season at the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge, TN. She is featured as "Miss September" in the first ever, "Banjo Babes Calendar and Compilation Album" for 2014. Megan also got the honor and privilege to play alongside one of her most influential banjo heroes, J.D. Crowe, in the filming of Tim Farmer’s “Homemade Jam”.
Currently, Megan is traveling on the road with the band, The Velvet Blue, a bluegrass band based out of Morehead, KY (www.thevelvetblue.com). She is also making plans for her first solo project which will hopefully be released in 2014.
Outside of her musical career, Megan is a full time nursing student at Walters State Community College in Morristown Tn.
