Singer, Songwriter, Minister Daniel W Merrick does Country, Christian and Praise Music singing "Wrong's Not Right" in his newest Patriotic Tune. 24 January 2022 - Bradford Pennsylvania. Dan's been writing songs since he was just 16 years old. He got his first copyright in 1989 with his song "Lord Let Her Be Lonely" while stationed at Fort Knox in the Army. Dan started out singing in church and performing back up vocals for the "Teen Revivers" that opened for the Gaithers' in 1972 at a concert in Cleveland Ohio Dan's home of birth. Dan claims Smethport and Bradford as his home now with local ties to the roots of the first settlers of Tioga, Potter and McKean counties. Dan's dad was in the OSS in World War Two as an acting field Full Bird Colonel during operations in the Pacific and European theaters although his official rank of record is 1st Lieutenant. 1LT Robert W Merrick WW2 was a Sargent First Class - E7 when Japan attacked at Pearl Harbor and upon reporting to his National Guard unit was given orders of promotion to Second Lieutenant to go to Fort Polk to begin active service. That's called becoming a "mustang" in the US Army. Dan became a "mustang" too in 1982 promoted from Staff Sargent to Second Lieutenant in July that year. Dan retired at Captain in 2004 from the reserves and served during the Cold War and Desert Storm Era from his enlistment in 1979.
When Dan ended his Active service in 1992, he began doing ministry and music in Pittsburgh and appeared on "His Place" on Cornerstone Christian Television as well as performing with the Beth Messiah Messianic Worship Band on the same TV station. Dan had a Top 40 CCM Countdown hit featured on the CCM weekly Top 40 show with Bob Sour national broadcast in 1994. Dan's song "Like Stephen" gained some national press and Dan moved to Smethport in 1995 with his wife Olga.

For many years Dan and Olga cared for their children home-bound in taking care of their son Igor who had Duchenne muscular dystrophy until he passed away in 2018. Right after his son passed, Dan was diagnosed with Cancer and when most would resign to full retirement as a disabled veteran, Dan didn't give up living up to his quote from his book "Instructions to Money": "The Only Way to Surely Fail is Never Really Try". Dan had two operations to remove the cancer in 2018 and has been "healed" by prayer and the hand of Yah God as Dan says was guiding the doctors hands. The doctors thought that Dan would lose the use of his right hand and have to have a finger amputated. In 2019 the doctors told Dan that would not happen and he was in full remission. Being a keyboard and guitar player Dan was filled with Joy at the news that he could keep playing music and wrote a song called "Yah Ha Yah" in praise to the Almighty for delivering him from cancer and losing his ability to play music.

Dan went to work in the studio in June 2021 at AudioTraxWest in Portville New York working with Gold and Platinum Producer Randy Green to release four songs so far including his latest releases "Yah Ha Yah","Pennsylvania", "Loves Sweet Song" and "Wrong's Not Right" on Eternal Light & Power Company Records, Dan's Independent record label.

Dan's dad died of SARS in 2000 and during this pandemic Dan wrote this song in Memory of his father that died from the first corona virus spread that took his dad's life in 2000. In memorial of his father, Dan's song "Wrong's Not Right" sings of the real life story of his father as a World War Two Veteran.

Dan's music has gotten more than just noticed in his comeback from his 1994 CCM Hit "Like Stephen" with his renewed studio work and making his life long dreams come true to share his songs with the world. Dan is an ASCAP composer with a collection of over 40 songs he wrote from before his Army service in the US Cavalry as an officer enlisting in 1979 and being commissioned in 1982 moving from Staff Sergent to officers ranks. Dan's father also "mustanged" from SFC to Officer in World War Two as well as Dan's ancestor Major George W Merrick in the Civil War. Dan's served two years at the local chapter president of the Son's of the American Revolution after discovering his ancestor Israel Merrick and his father Issac Merrick were both Revolutionary War veterans who moved from Maryland and Deleware in the late 1700's early 1800's to this area of what was then the edge of the Northwest Territory.
Rev. Cpt. Daniel W Merrick PhD US Army Retired Cavalry Officer began a quest to document his family tree 26 years ago that lead him to join several genealogical societies and establish this family history and genealogical society. “The Journey has been lead by angels” when Dan began. Dan discovered that his great grandfather was buried in Wellsboro Cemetery and contacted the Tioga county historical society on the phone and set an appointment to meet with a local historian and genealogist. While driving to the appointment, Dan drove by Asonia Church on Route 6 and saw a cemetery and was drawn to stop and look for some clues in his search. Dan’s wife suggested he wait until their meeting was over on the way back so Dan resisted the mysterious compulsion. Later at the meeting, Dan’s intuition was verified as the historian explained that Israel Merrick, Dan’s 7th Great Grandfather and Grandmother were buried in Asonia Church Cemetery, the same one they had passed by where Dan wanted to stop and search.
Dan is the President of the Meyrick Foundation Org and an author, songwriter and singer. Dan released his single entitled “Pennsylvania" December 2021:
“Pennsylvania” the story of Israel Merrick who came in 1804 to the Pine Creek Gorge also known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon in Tioga County and was one of the first settlers of the edges of the “Northwest Territory” that expanded west over the next 150 years to become the United States. Israel came from Maryland to Pennsylvania at the request of Mr. Wells who established Wellsboro in what is now the heart of the Tioga State Forest. Israel is buried in Asonia Church Cemetary on Route 6 beside his wife Mary Lockwood Broadway Merrick. Israel was a Revolutionary War Patriot and supply runner with his cousin Israel Merrick Parson(s).
