Anna Johnson is a girl who makes music from the deepest part of her heart. Her songs sing stories of life and love, friendship and the road, with an emphasis on effortless harmonies and intricate string arrangements. Though she began as a songwriter with great Pop sensibilities, Anna's writing and performance style has matured into a more organic Americana/Pop, again with a foundation of story-telling by way of floating harmonies and acoustic guitars.
In the summer of 2010, just after the release of her first professional independent album, "Ready To Go", Anna was endorsed by McPherson Guitars. She adores playing their beautiful boutique instruments, as you can see in every one of her promotional photos and videos. Not only does she play their instruments, but Anna has become a part of the McPherson family, and has recorded two albums at McPherson Studios in Nashville, TN. The first, "Winding Road", is Anna's second full-length independent album, featuring her live band, The Anna Johnson Band. The Americana/Pop album was released in March 2012, and has touched and inspired people from all walks of life, encouraging them to live life to its fullest, feeling every emotion and traveling every road. The second, a Christmas EP titled, "Christmastime", will was released on November 13th, 2012. Thanks to the support of her faithful friends and followers, Anna afforded the EP and a whole series of live, HD music videos called "The Living Room Sessions" by raising funds through Kickstarter.com. The project was successfully funded, and actually exceeded, in July 2012. "Christmastime" features two entirely original Christmas songs, an original chorus to the relatively unknown, "I Wonder As I Wander", and five more unique holiday arrangements, again featuring vocal harmonies, acoustic strings, and The Anna Johnson Band.
Since moving to Nashville, Tennessee in the fall of 2009, Anna has celebrated the release of THREE professional, independent albums, has formed and grown with her band, and has had the privilege of sharing the stage with Amy Grant, Colbie Caillat, Jim Lauderdale, John Carter Cash, and Bryan White, to name just a few. Her first Nashville release, "Ready To Go", was released in May 2010 and produced by Billy Smiley and Bill Whittington in Franklin, TN. The Pop/Folk album showcases her writing and vocal abilities, and has been described as "an expressive mastery of melody, cool and catchy, brilliantly arranged, and achingly gorgeous". As an independent musician, Anna has accomplished a great deal in her short career, but with the love and support of those who enjoy her music, Anna and her band (including her husband and younger sister) will continue to make music for the rest of their lives.
