Come on girls! Come on down to the Red Tent - young, old, maidens, mothers, grannies, crones. Let’s shake out our hair and take off our shoes, come on down to the Red tent and relax as you choose!

Finally I have found the community of women! Why did it take me so long?

I lived in London for 10 years where I released 2 albums: The Pictures Within (the single Too Young To Die was used for Aids Education by Nicolodeon); and For Eternity (the single was Breaking). These were released through Progressive International, a label based in the USA. Too Young To Die was produced by legendary Rolling Stones producer Chris Kimsey on his own time.

Having returned to my hometown, Sydney, I instigated and ran Sydney Songwriters (the 1st all original open mic night in Sydney) for 2 years, releasing my 3rd album Stories From Beneath in 2004.

Then I moved up to Queensland, living in a fragment of Gondwanaland, off the power grid with my 4 children & my redneck husband. I became a birth activist (singing my song Homebirth at the Mother of all Rallies on the steps of parliament house), got involved in women’s circles & retreats, instigated and ran The Mfest – Celebrating Motherhood - for 3 years (complete with a woman’s tent in the 3rd year)... and became captivated by The Red Tent.

Welcome to the Red Tent – women relaxing, women chatting, women telling stories, women dancing, crying, drumming, laughing, sharing, letting themselves go free, meditating. Women being Woman!
The Red Tent is an age old custom.

The Red Tent is written, performed, recorded and produced by Maryen Cairns, mixed in Nashville with the award winning Rob Feaster (Joni Mitchell, George Harrison, Peter Gabrial, Sting, Blink 182 etc etc), and mastered by the legendary Hank Williams from Mastermix.

The Red Tent is the forerunner to the album "Stories From The Red Tent", due in early 2012.
