"Jeff Mix captures the lowdown Vegas vibe. The human condition. Universal. Life, at street level. Pure."-Gurf Morlix

“The tracklist here is evocative of a jukebox in one of said dives, ranging from moving Americana to full-throated rock and roll to foot-stompin’ honky-tonk." - Jason Bracelin, Las Vegas Review Journal

“an ambitious companion piece to his debut album of the same name, Lost Vegas Hiway follows a handful of disparate dreamers and down-and-outers” – Richard Skanse, Lone Star Music Magazine

Ambitious? Yes. We don't think you'll find another independent artist, who's debut album comes with a feature film. Yes, Jeff Mix also wrote and stars in the film that accompanies the album. The songs make the characters and the characters make the song. And then throw in some grammy winners to boot, you've got a hell of a project. Lost Vegas Hiway was mastered by Pete Lyman (Isbell, Stapleton) as well as Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams) producing a track. Morlix also appears in the film, along side country legend Hal Ketchum, plus Jack Ingram, Robyn Ludwick and more. The remaining tracks were mixed in Nashville with in demand enginner, Eddie Spear, who's the assistant to Dave Cobb.

In short, if you’re a fan of Springsteen, Isbell or Petty, and well written songs, then the debut album from Jeff Mix and The Songhearts will go over well with your listeners especially if they know to watch the film too!

These songs are all told from the first person perspective of the down and out guests of the seedy, Gateway Motel. The prostitute, the motel manager, the con man, the musician who's on the road with a heartache. It put's you, the listener, in their shoes for the night to see how the other half lives.
